HOW TO WEAR IN DR MARTENS

We know that making the decision between buying a new pair of Dr Martens or a vintage pair is hard. Real hard. Hard like the leather on shop bought DM's. If you do choose to go down the shop bought DM route then here are a few pointers that will help you on your way to getting that soft, snug fit that you've always dreamed about. First thing, perhaps buy some plasters and thick socks..you know..just incase things get messy..
Ok, so..
- When you're in the shop make dead certain that you buy the right size. For example if you are usually a UK 5, then try on a UK 4 and a UK 6 aswell just to be sure.
- Once you've found the right size you definitely shouldn't put them on straight away. No matter how much you want to wear them as soon as possible. They will absolutely kill your feet and that would not be a good start to your relationship.
-  When you're home, cup of tea in hand, take the laces out.. Oh I forgot to say one thing you should buy. You can either get Dr Marten's Wonder Balm OR a much cheaper substitute to that is just as good is plain baby oil.
- Once you have that, get some cotton wool pads and apply a little bit of which ever one you choose and rub in circular motions over the seam. This helps to soften the leather and prepare the boots for the next few stages.
- Then, put some normal thinish socks on and then put the thick ones you bought earlier on over the normal thinner ones. Then and only then do you put the boots on. Wear them around the house for a while, maybe a couple of hours. Maybe wear them while you clean. Or cook. Or watch tv. (that part is really up to you)..I must advise though, don't go out on a walk at this stage because they might start to hurt quite soon after putting them on. You don't want to be stuck in the great outdoors, in big socks, painful boots with potential blisters now do you?
- Do this a couple of times and you should start to notice a difference and, once you do, you will have a very good friend in these boots...or is it friends?friend..or friends?? oh I dont know but you get what I'm saying.. (It's all very exciting isn't it?)

Alternatively, if this all seems abit excessive to you, then you can buy a pair of vintage Dr Martens

If you do this, then someone, somewhere has already done all the hard work for you!
It really is up to you.. I am merely here to give you tips and advice on how to have happy, happy feet.
